Dillinger Family Marker, Crown Point Cemetery
While doing some research on Flickr last week, I found this interesting photo of the Dillinger family headstone. The headstone is located in Crown Point Cemetery in Indianapolis and is, of course, the location of John Dillinger's final resting place. Dillinger himself has a more modest marker; this is the family marker.
I thought the photographer did a great job of rendering this black and white HDR photo. To me, it makes the photo appear old and surreal at the same time.
John and Patcey Cornelius
A kind soul at findagrave.com recently sent me photos he took of the tombstones of my fourth great grandparents -- John and Patcey Cornelius. They are buried at the Cornelius Family Cemetery in Christian County, Kentucky. Of special interest to me is John's birthdate. He was born on May 20, 1776 . . . 219 years before the birth of my son -- and his fifth great grandson! -- Kevin Cornelius.
The inscription on John's headstone reads the following:
Farewell my wife and children all
From you a father Christ doth call
Mourn not for me it is in vain
To call me in you sight again.
