Cornelius Family Farm

Here's a photo of my grandparents' farm southeast of Madrid, Nebraska. This photo was taken sometime in the late '50s and has been in hanging in our house for decades!

I will have more on this photo later in my family weblog. I am trying to confirm some information with my uncle before I post anything.

John and Patcey Cornelius

A kind soul at findagrave.com recently sent me photos he took of the tombstones of my fourth great grandparents -- John and Patcey Cornelius. They are buried at the Cornelius Family Cemetery in Christian County, Kentucky. Of special interest to me is John's birthdate. He was born on May 20, 1776 . . . 219 years before the birth of my son -- and his fifth great grandson! -- Kevin Cornelius.

The inscription on John's headstone reads the following:

Farewell my wife and children all
From you a father Christ doth call
Mourn not for me it is in vain
To call me in you sight again.
