Baseball's over (in Chicago)
The baseball season is mercifully over in Chicago. The Cubs lost to Arizona to finish the season at 83 - 78 while the White Sox at least had a meaningful last series before losing to Detroit to finish their season at 79 - 83. The Sox were relegated to a spoiler role as Detroit was in position to clinch the American League Central title if they won two of the three weekend games. Instead, the Sox won two out of three forcing Detroit and Minnesota to play a one-game playoff (play-in?) game Tuesday. Now we look forward to a cold winter while both teams ponder what to do next.At least the Bears are now showing signs of life and -- one quarter into the season -- have won three games in a row after dropping their opener. Who knows how the Bulls will do this season. At least the Blackhawks seem to have a clue on what their doing. The season just started for them in Finland where they split their opening series with the Florida Panthers. About four months until spring training!
Wrigley Fields
Chicago Cubs fans Paul and Teri Fields have named their baby boy: Wrigley Fields. He’s a healthy baby boy but they will have to put his food in a blender one month a year because he will have a tendency to choke in September.
West Side Grounds Plaque

Another Flickr fave. This site is just south of the Eisenhower Expressway and was home to the Chicago Cubs from 1893 to 1915. The 1906 World Series between the Cubs and White Sox was played here and the Cubs' last world championship was won here in 1908. A total of four World Series were hosted here.
I have not been to this site, but would like to go sometime soon.

While the Cash for Clunkers program ended Monday, the Cubs continued to roll out their lemons Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.

The marquee in front of historic Wrigley Field. A few years ago -- during my "blue period" -- I used a filter in Paint Shop Pro to reverse the reds and blues in the photo (leaving everything else black and white). Anyone who has been to Wrigley Field knows the marquee is red.
