The riveting first-person narrative of a young man who grows to be the most notorious magician his world has ever seen. From his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, to years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime- ridden city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that transports readers into the body and mind of a wizard. It is a high-action novel written with a poet's hand, a powerful coming-of-age story of a magically gifted young man, told through his eyes: to read this book is to be the hero.

Do NOT buy this book. It has been more than a decade since the second of the trilogy was released, and there is no word about the third book. Save yourself the frustration and read this trilogy once he gets the third book out!
  • One of my favorites

Unsure how to put it down, many late nights reading and re reading this one!
  • Amazing book

One of my favorite books; perhaps the only one (this series I mean) that I can read over and over again and still enjoy it as if it’s my first time through.

Such an amazing story. Love the way it’s written. A good idea, change on how magic is. With the journey.

Great books, just notice 2007 and 2011.... seven years later no book 3. I can’t recommend a series that may never be finished.
  • A Little slow

    By Synthetic Rapture
It was a little slow and too much time was spent on unimportant aspects of the story. It is a good story, though. I might recommend it to a friend, depending on that person’s taste in fantasy. 👀
  • A beautifully written fantasy book

    By Scrub Kai
The prose of this book is simply gorgeous. The story is interesting and original. The characters are deep and the scenes can be powerful. This is probably the best written fantasy book to come out since the turn of the century.

Loved this! Excellent scene setting and solid storytelling. Could use a touch more in character development, but better than any number of other books I’ve read. I will be reading the rest of the series.
