Where has the summer gone?

I know every year I ask the same question. I just can't believe we are already in August. The stores have had their "Back to School" items out for a month now and NFL training camps are in full action. Seems like summer gets shorter and shorter. I'm looking forward to fall only because of the cooler weather and football. Still can't believe it's almost over!

Just who are "they"?

As I write this, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has fallen more than 200 points on news that consumer confidence "unexpectedly" plunged. Confidence was expected to be lower, but "they" did not think it would be this low. Also, the past few weeks have seen spikes in weekly jobless claims even though "they" thought it would be lower.

Just who are "they"?

"They" must be a group of influential economists or market makers who gather together in some bunker and make predictions about the monthly economic reports. It seems like "they" are way, way overconfident. I wonder if "they" do this to make money on the market when it goes lower. That's the only reason I can see for "they" to make such silly predictions. Anyone who is out there looking for a job or trying to qualify for a loan or just keeping their heads above water will realize our economy is in serious trouble. Instead of building false expectations, "they" should spend time with real people to better understand what is going on and to come up with a solution to this mess!

Finance Committee Democrat Won’t Read Text of Health Bill

I don’t expect to actually read the legislative language because reading the legislative language is among the more confusing things I’ve ever read in my life,” Carper told CNSNews.com.

At least this senator is honest about not reading the health reform bill. I wonder if any legislator plans on reading it?

What a bunch of tools!!!

Car dealers getting stiffed on “Cash For Clunkers”

The federal government has only reimbursed auto dealers for 2 percent of the claims they’ve submitted through the popular “cash for clunkers” program, a Pennsylvania congressman said, calling on the Obama administration to help speed up the process.

This is typical government tomfoolery. According to the Department of Transportation, there are a total of 338,659 rebate requests under the "Cash for Clunkers" program; but only a staff of 225 to review the claims. That's 1,500 claims per employee currently!

And the government wants to manage health care too...........
